Palmyra, the fallen empire of Queen Zenobia is found by heading towards the south. Here enchanting, well preserved, ruins are witnessed firsthand. Damascus, another of Syria’s stunning cities, is the country’s capital that has been continuously inhabited for seven thousand years. Here one will find winding streets and a lively souk, as well as Damascus’ Umayyad Mosque, well known for its golden mosaics and a splendor to behold.
